From her childhood in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where a paintbrush was never far from her hand, Jakia's journey has been a vibrant exploration of art and design. A 2008 graduate of Moore College of Art & Design, she embarked on her New York City adventure, weaving a narrative rich with creativity and purpose.

Jakia's story transcends mere professional accomplishment; it's a heartfelt tribute to beauty, memory, and love. In 2011, she founded Ingram Talley Design Studio, a legacy honoring her beloved grandmothers, Edna Mae Talley and Ada B. Ingram, whose strength, grace and kindness inspire every creation.

Her artistic horizons expanded with each journey, from Harlem to Paris, London to Cuba, and beyond. These global explorations instilled a profound appreciation for cultural diversity, enriching her design perspective. The humble beginnings of her Koreatown studio in 2013 were a launchpad for a career that now spans continents.

Jakia's lifelong passion for design has resulted in fruitful collaborations with industry leaders such as A.L.C., Laquan Smith, Rachel Roy, Splendid, Carter's, and Fabletics. Her tenure as Assistant to the Creative Director at Harlem’s Fashion Row, along with her participation in the HFR-sponsored ‘NYFW x NY Daily News Emerging Designer Competition,’ highlights her commitment to nurturing emerging talent and pushing creative boundaries.

A recent highlight includes her contribution to the acclaimed 2023 Fabletics x Khloe Kardashian collection, showcasing her ability to thrive in high-profile, fast-paced environments. Her impressive portfolio includes designing impactful campaigns for major corporations, styling celebrity clients, and showcasing a sustainable capsule collection at New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012. Her fine art, exhibited in both solo and group shows, further demonstrates her artistic versatility.

Beyond the runway and canvas, Jakia's creative spirit extends to film, earning her an IMDb credit for costume design and styling in the 2015 film, "The Secret to Success: They Can No Longer Keep It from Us."
